Tax policy, labour shortage in way of India becoming MRO hub

High taxation policy, lack of clarity on land allotment and significant shortage of skilled labour are impeding India's emergence as a global hub for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations, according to an Assocham-Yes Bank study. AirAsia offers 5 lakh free tickets on select routes

Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia, which is awaiting flying permit from the Indian aviation regulator to launch its services in the domestic market, on Tuesday said it is offering 5 lakh free seats along with 18 lakh low-fare promotional seats from Kuala Lumpur on select routes. Air Costa expects break-even in operations by 2015

India's start-up regional airline Air Costa expects to achieve break-even in operations by March 2015 even as it plans to add as many as 10 aircraft to the fleet, its chairman Ramesh Lingamaneni said today.
