Shaastra, the annual technical festival of IIT-Madras is back, with a plethora of events, workshops, lectures and exhibitions centred on the theme of Breaking Boundaries. The 15^th edition of Shaastra, one of Asia's biggest and best technical fests, will be held from January 4^th to 7^th, 2014.

For those who like their technology with a dash of fun and entertainment, Envisage, the first ever fully student-run tech show, is back, bigger and better! A unique blend of cutting edge technology and art, this event is back to bedazzle everyone with its spectacular shows! The magic of science is displayed through various student-made projects such as a Magnetic Levitation exhibit, a larger-scale version of last year's pioneering Wireless Instruments show and a Holographic display. The celebration of technology will just get bigger once the Virtual DJ gets the crowd on its feet!

It's not just about shows and competitions, though. The learning experience at Shaastra is completed with the unparalleled Lecture Series that is in store this time around. Among the world renowned speakers set to grace Shaastra this year are Richard Stallman, pioneer of Open Source Software; Dave Lavery, leader of NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover Project; Anant Agarwal, founder of MIT OpenCourseWare and John Adler, the neurosurgeon who invented the Cyberknife. Some of the Indian luminaries set to dazzle audiences are Bikash Sinha, scientific advisor to the Prime Minister; Manoj Pant, international trade expert and professor at JNU; Amitabh Shah, prominent social worker and Gautam Narang, specialist in Humanoid robots. A lecture delivered by young boundary-breakers Shravan and Sanjay, entrepreneurs and technocrats while still in school will also be a highlight at this Shaastra. A spectacular series of exhibitions is just another of Shaastra's several treats this year!

Breaking Boundaries, and taking to the air, the Shaastra Air Show, a highlight of the previous edition of Shaastra, is returning, with more expert flyers ready to amaze and enthral gigantic audiences by demonstrating their aerial acrobatics! Get ready to witness the best flyers, from India and abroad, performing stunts that defy the laws of physics at the Shaastra Air Show!
