Creepy Monkey Brain Bowl From ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ That You Can Eat Out Of

Monkey Brains Bowl

Firebox has released a creepy Monkey Brain Bowl that you can eat food and chilled monkey brains out of or recreating the famous dinner scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Yummy! The Monkey Brain Bowl, which comes equipped with a skull cap lid to keep food cold or hot, is available to purchase online.

So why not liven up meal times with this Monkey Brains Bowl and scoop chilled cerebral delicacies straight from its hairy gaping cranium. If this fine piece of severed simian storage is good enough for his Supreme Highness, the Maharajah of Pankot (and he knew how to party), then it’s certainly good enough for you. You can fill it with all sorts of exotic delights like crispy Coleoptera beetles, Eye-ball soup and “Snake Surprise” …or something more boring, like cornflakes.

After witnessing the ancient mosaics of Pompeii, Chicago-based artist Jim Bachor was inspired to create his own mosaic art with a modern twist. He’s created all manner of portraits and pop culture imagery out of colorful tiles, but in 2013 he found a new application. He’s been filling in potholes in Chicago with mosaics. The mosaics are based on the design of the Chicago flag (white and blue stripes with red stars) and feature fake serial numbers or the word “Pothole.” He’s posted the addresses of his pothole mosaics on his site.

‘How I Started Writing Songs Again’, A TED Talk by Sting About How He Overcame Writer’s Block by Returning Home

Posted: 30 May 2014 10:55 AM PDT

In his TED Talk, "How I Started Writing Songs Again," former Police frontman Sting discusses how returning to his hometown of Wallsend in the Northeast of England helped the singer end a particularly bad bought of writer’s block that stretched over several years.

If you can't write about yourself anymore, then who do you write about? It's ironic that the landscape I'd work so hard to escape from and the community that I'd more or less abandoned should be the very landscape I'd have to return to to find my missing muse. As soon as I decided to honor the community I came from and tell their story, the songs came thick and fast. I've described it as a kind of projectile vomiting.

eCool Hand-Cranked Cooler Uses the Earth to Chill Beer Cans Underground

Posted: 30 May 2014 09:42 AM PDT

eCool

Created by four inventors from a Mors, a small island in Northern Denmark, the eCool is a hand-cranked beer cooler that resides largely underground, using the naturally cooling effects of soil to lower the temperature of the cans inside. When you want a beer, turn the handle on the electricity-free unit, until a can emerges on the conveyor belt from its subterranean chamber. Installing the cooler requires some landscaping tools and a bit of manual labor.

It's advised to use a garden drill, but can be installed with a shovel as well, if you're a real man. The earth cooler’s top is very well isolated and maintains about the same cooled temperature throughout the whole container.

The eCool also protects the 24 cans inside its chamber from frost during the colder months of the year.

Romantic Clothing Sculpted From Carrera Marble in ‘The Identity Collection’ by Alasdair Thomson

Posted: 30 May 2014 08:54 AM PDT

Elizabeth-Alasdair Thompson

Scottish artist Alasdair Thompson‘s current series “The Identity Collection” features breezy romantic clothing that has been sculpted from gorgeous Carrera marble. Each “garment” is modeled after donations from family and friends in an exploration of combining the ethereal nature of fabric with the cold weight of stone.

Through his current series of sculptures, Alasdair is exploring the way fabric hangs and folds, and is attempting to capture that lighness and gracefulness in stone. Named ‘The Identity Collection’, his recent sculptures are carved copies of garments donated by his friends and family. Seeking to capture the characters of those he invited to donate, he surrendered the control of the content of the series by allowing others to submit garments of their choosing for him to carve. The results are simple and understated, as well as timeless and nostalgic. – OnForm Sculpture In Stone
