Airports Privatisation Only After Polls

The decision to privatise six airports will be taken up only after the Lok Sabha elections, according to the aviation ministry. Union Civil Aviation Secretary Ashok Lavasa, while addressing an industry event said that the projects will be put on hold till the elections have been concluded. In A shocking loss for the air force, one of its most modern special operations C-130 J aircraft crashed Friday during a low-level, tactical training mission, killing all five crew and destroying the plane. Chennai Secondary runway to open in 10 days

Planes will soon roll over the country's first runway bridge in Chennai as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to open the extended second runway in 10 days. The runway and its bridge across Adyar river received safety clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The runway was closed for extension work in 2009.
