Congress leaders are battling it right now. Union minister of state for
commerce and industry D Purandeswari and Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami
Reddy are crossing swords for nomination to the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha
seat in 2014 general elections. Each one has reasons to stake a claim:

the city; Purandeswari wants the party to re-nominate her since she has
developed a bond with the people in the constituency. Subbarami Reddy
represented the city in Lok Sabha between 1996 and 1999; he lost the
seat to Telugu Desam Party’s MVVS Murthy in 1999. In 2004, the ticket
went to N Janardhan Reddy and in 2009 the Congress party decided on D
Purandeswari. Readmore
