West Bengal Staff Selection Commission (WBSSC) is recruiting 246 Assistant Sub-Inspector of Excise under the Department of Excise, Govt. of West Bengal. Advertisement No. 02/WBSSC/2013. Interested and eligible candidates may apply online through official website of WBSSC (See below). Selection of the candidates will be through Written Test followed by Interview. Number of vacancies and brief details are given below given —



ASSISTANT SUB-INSPECTOR OF EXCISE 
Post Code: 027.

Number of Vacancies: 246 Nos. (Gen—135; SC—54; ST—15; BC-A—25; BC-B—17). Out of total vacancies 73 is reserved for Exempted Category.

Educational Qualification: Higher Secondary (10+2) pass candidates from the
West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent.
N.B: Female candidates are not eligible to apply for the vacancies.

Age Limit: Between 18yrs to 27yrs as on 01/01/2013. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST - 5yrs; OBC- 3yrs; and Others - As per norms.

Pay Scale: Rs.7100 — 37600/- and Grade Pay: Rs.3200/-

Minimum Physical Measurement of the candidates: —
Height — 167 cms; (160cms for Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbansis and ST candidates)
Chest (unexpanded/ expanded) — 78cms/ 83cms. (76cm/ 81cms for Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbansis and ST candidates)
Weight — Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard (for all candidates).

Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and should possess high color vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties

The minimum vision should be 6/6 with or without glasses. 
They should possess high colour vision and should not be colour blind


Candidates' Selection: Selection of the candidates will be through Written Test, Physical Measurement Test and Interview.
The selection process will be carried by the West Bengal Staff Selection Commission. Candidates on the basis of qualifying the Written Test will be called for Physical Measurement Test. Candidates qualified in both the tests as mentioned shall be called for Interview .
Finally candidates will go for Medical Examination for fitness test. Refer the Advt. for details.

Scheduled for Written Test: 
West Bengal Staff Selection Commission will hold a written test tentatively on 6th April, 2014 (Sunday).

For Offline Application: Candidates may download the Application form from the website of WB SSC OR can be purchased from the Sahaj Tathya Mitra Kendras, who are authorized by the Commission to sell these forms. The duly filled Application form is to be sent at the below address by post. Do not enclose any documents/ testimonials with the Application form except original e-Payment receipt of examination fee issued by post office on fee payment.
PLEASE NOTE: EACH APPLICATION FORM CONTAINS UNIQUE REGISTRATION NUMBER SO DO NOT USE ZEROX COPY OF FORM OR DO NOT PURCHASE FORM FROM STREET VENDORS.

On successful submission of the application an auto generated receipt with Registration Number will be generated.
CANDIDATES MAY ONLINE BY THEMSELVES BY VISITING THE BELOW WEBSITE OR CAN APPLY THROUGH ANY TATHYA MITRA KENDRAS AVAILABLE IN THEIR AREA. IF APPLYING THROUGH SAHAJ TATHYA MITRA KENDRAS THEN APPLICANT MAY PAY THE EXAMINATION FEE TO THE CENTRE WITH RS.20/- EXTRA FOR FILLING THE FORM AS SERVICE CHARGE.

Examination Fee: —
Rs.220/- for All categories except SC/ST candidates.
Rs.20/- only for SC/ST candidates.
Online mode payment of Fee: Payment of Examination fees and Processing fees can be made online through payment gateway using Debit Cards / Credits Cards / Net banking of any bank. An amount of Rs. 5/- only will be charged by the concerned agency as "Service Charge"for availing Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking facility.
Offline mode of payment of Fee: In case of submission of applications offline, the amount of Examination fees and / or Processing fees may be deposited in any of the Post Offices having e-payment facility. The facility will be available in more than 700 Post Offices of West Bengal.
The concerned Post Office will give a receipt against deposit of Examination fees and / or Processing Fees, which has to be pasted at the space provided for affixing the receipt in the application form (page 2).

N.B: The benefits of reservation of vacancies and age concession for SC, ST, BC- A & BC- B candidates are admissible to SC, ST , BC-A & BC- B candidates of West Bengal only.

NO EXEMPTION OF FEES IS AVAILABLE TO THE SC / ST CANDIDATES OF OTHER STATES.

For Offline mode Application: The filled up application form may be sent by post (preferably by Registered or Speed Post) addressed to the "SECRETARY-CUM-CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONS, WEST BENGAL STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION, Mayukh Bhaban, Salt Lake, Kolkata - 700091" superscribing on the envelop the NAME OF THE RECRUITMENT and the NAME OF THE POST applied for.
The filled up application forms may also be submitted personally in the drop box to be kept at the enquiry counter of the Commission's office


Important Dates: 
Offline mode: The Application form must reach by Registered/ Speed  post or by hand on or before 22/01/2014 (4PM).
Online mode: Online submission of Application form can be done till 22/01/2014 (4PM).

Issue of Admit Card: From 5th March, 2014.
Issue of Duplication Admit card (downloadable from website): From 19th March, 2014
Date of Examination: 06th April, 2014.
